Q. Writing a paper in History, need more information about the beginning of the base along with what goes on there on a day to day basis. Anyone know anything interesting like this or know any websites I can look at?

A. Cherry Point is a Marine aviation base. It supports the 2nd Marine division which is based at Camp Lejeune, NC. There is no such base in Louisiana. Being close to home is not part of a Marine's job. He should have many good friends in the Marines to pass off duty time with. He should go to the gym and keep in shape. Air Wing Marines have to work on physical fitness on their own initiative because their jobs do no keep them in shape. I was in the Marine Air Wing and I was stationed at Cherry Point for a couple of years. I admit that stateside duty can be boring and tedious. I would suggest he request orders for sea duty, Okinawa, or Afghanistan. Duty outside the states is much better in the Marines. You don't have to worry so much about… [cont.]

Breast biopsy before testing?
Q. Hello. I am a 25 year old female. I found a small lump in my right breast about a week ago. I have a very strong family history of cancer so I called and made an apt with my doc right away. They referred me to the breast clinic on Cherry Point Air Station (we are stationed there, my husband is a marine). When I met the surgeon he took a quick look at me and then said image testing would do me no good (mammogram, ultra sound, etc) and that I am better off considering a biopsy. He didn't pressure me, but he said that was his suggestion. So, I agreed and he did the biopsy right then and there. Now I am just wondering if that is normal? I mean to cut out a piece of my breast without any imaging? Do you think this is normal?

A. How funny my Fiance is at the Le Jeune Base. Anywhoo, i too had a lump scare last year actually about this time too. Well i went and the doctor said that the lump was squishy and flat and that they would to an ultrasound instead of a biopsy. She said that if the lump had been larger and more firm that she would have definitely done a biopsy first. So i would say no, depending on the condition of the lump. I wish you the best of luck girl. I hope its no big deal. Mine were cystic fibroids, apparently they run in my family (females both sides). Good Luck!

Dual military marriages and bases likely to be posted at.?
Q. My husband is in the Army, and I have been thinking about joining the Marine Corps. It's something I always wanted to do when I was younger, and now it's really hitting me that it's pretty much now or never. I want to go in for Military Intelligence, but I know it's not necessarily guaranteed. My question is, I know they have a guideline that they try* to follow, which keeps you within 50 or 100 miles or so..my husband right now is stationed at Fort Stewart with 3rd ID, Parris Island and MCAS Cherry Point are about 60 miles away. He is deploying within the next few months, so I could get training out of the way while he's gone, but what likelihood do I have of being stationed around here? I know that they don't have to obey the 50 or 100… [cont.]

A. wrong. there is NO requriement that they HAVE to do anything. especially if you are in sepoerate Branches. spousal co location is NOT an option whiel you are in different Barcnhes, and is NEVER a guarntee when you are . you would go where you are needed.. period.
