Can anyone fly into Tyndall AFB airport?
Q. I want to visit my husband in Tyndall but not sure which airport to use. Tyndall or Panama City

A. Unless you are flying Space Available on a military flight you will not be allowed to fly into Tyndall. For visiting him you must fly into the closest commercial airport which would be Panama City.

A. As far as cost, I don't know. try Waggoners Transport, or Swift Transportation. you may also want to check into having someone drive it there. Be careful with private ppl though. there ae professional driving companies, so check around.

going to Patrick Air Force base FLA, any info?
Q. so im exited! i was wondering how life was there, and off base housing, should i live off base with my wife? how is the beach there, warm? anything u can tell me about that base please, the best and the worst, is it boring? oh and a friend wants to trade me for Tyndall AFB, what do u think???

A. Phoenix, Patrick is awesome!!! As one of only a handful of Marines there. I really enjoyed it. Right now you will be able to steal a house off base. I bought (and rented) a house in Viera. Beautiful city about 10 miles from the base. You have access to cape canveral, disney world and are only a few hours from Miami. If you like doing cruises you are about 20 min away from 3 major cruise lines. The base itself is small, so it doesn't have all the amenities of a large base. But I think you will love it. If you like water sports buy a boat/kayak/or jet skis and standby for tons of fun!!!

A. It really depends on what you like to do: I'll address the ones I've personally been to: Andrews - not so nice part of DC - great to hop out of if you like to travel. Beale - middle of nowhere CA. . . they have cows on the runway; its an hour from Sacramento. Brooks is in SA and its all but shut down.. . .its like 3 active duty people and 100 contractors Columbus nice base not much of a town outside -very pilot centric. Fairchild - okay base about 30 miles from Spokane great place if you like hunting/fishing. Langley- I like Langley the best its 2 hours from DC so you can visit when you want/an hour and some change from Outer Banks, near enough to Norfolk VA you get good concerts, decent hockey team, etc. You can go 30 mins the other… [cont.]

When will I see my AF Officer boyfriend again?
Q. My boyfriend is an AF officer and just began his Air Battle Manager training at Tyndall AFB in Florida. I just went there to visit him and had a great time. The only problem is that I'm not sure when I'll get to see him again before Thanksgiving or even Christmas-time. He's not sure if he'll have any off time during his training but he says he MIGHT have a 2 week lull period where he'll be available for me to visit again. Does anyone have any real life experience with Air Battle Manager training at Tyndall specifically? Is it customary for them to give the trainees some time off at any point? I would really like some insight on this from someone in the know.

Does the Air Force have double standards on adultery for men and women?
Q. (I wrote this question with Governor Mark Sanford in mind. It is unbelievable that the cowardly high command of the Air Force let this Airman stay in his job and in his rank after he was AWOL and committed Adultery??? Please read the case about 1st Lt Kelly Flinn an Air Force Academy Graduate and B-52 pilot. Head and shoulders above Mark Sanford. Who committed adultery and was never charged.) A. From what I can read she lied, got caught, was told to stop and then kept doing it. She is an Officer and was fully aware of the consequences. She falls under the UCMJ so she has to play by their, way more specific, rules. A Governor falls under conventional laws and sadly is not held to the same standards. As a military member, being fully aware of the laws, you gotta ask yourself "are my stripes/bars and everything I have accomplished worth it?" It must have been some really good sex.

Which are the best Air Force Bases in the U.S.?
Q. I know there's Eglin, MacDill, Patrick, and Tyndall in Florida. How would you rate these taking in mind size (I want a big base), facilities, and ambiance? I leave for BMT in about 2 weeks, and while I know that the dream sheet is a wild card, I would still like to list some bases I'm really interested in. My AFSC is Personnel, so I did my research and the majority of bases have my AFSC at my skill level. My number 1 choice however would be McChord AFB, WA. Also, what about the bases in California? How do they compare to each other?

A. Different strokes for different folks really. Example: Mountain Home AFB Idaho. Most people probably would avoid it like the plague. It's cold, kinda remote, and small. But for folks who like winter, outdoor activites (hunting, camping, hiking, skiing) and prefer a smaller country type life, they love it. Best thing to do is think about what things you like to do or what things you would want to do or see. Of all of the U.S. bases I've been stationed at, Hickam AFB Hawaii was the best although it's not on the mainland. Of the mainland bases I've had, Travis AFB CA was best followed by McGuire AFB NJ. They were both good based on proximity to major metropolitan areas, Travis (San Francisco, Sacramento) and McGuire (Philadelphia, New… [cont.]
