My friend is currently on one of the Cutters and will be getting back soon. He will have been gone for about 3 months and I know that he will finally get some time to stay in San Diego until his next deployment. How long does he get to be stationed on land at the Coast Guard base until his next deployment do you think? About 3 months also? Before you go, make sure you're in shape. It makes your time there easier. Make sure you're a good swimmer. I couldnt disagree more with James S. He is yet another undereducated person who comments on our basic training and hasnt gone through it. It is more probable that James S tried… [cont.] Answered by uscgofficer - Fri Jun 26 14:43:55 2009 What are some jobs in the Coast Guard that require being on helicopters?
Q. I've always been wanting to save peoples' lives. I think this is what I might want to do if I end up joining the Coast Guard next year after I graduate from high school as part of a rescue squad. Aviation Maintenance Technician - CG aircraft mechanic. Aviation Survivalist Technician - rescue swimmers, or "the guys that jump out of the helicopters to save people".
