There are some things that make it unique. This includes the fact that we have Federal Law Enforcement as one of our missions and SAR as one of our missions. This "uniqieness" of the Coast Guard also modifies some of the basic instruction you will receive. There is also alot of naval type training since we are a sea service. Before you go, make sure you're in shape. It makes your time there easier. Make sure you're a good swimmer. I couldnt disagree more with James S.
