How much economic gain does a military base add to a community?
Q. In other words, what is the average economic gain that a military base brings to a community? I was in the AF for 9 years, and we were always told that we brought in some ridiculous amounts of money. Just wondering if that was all jargon or not because every military base I've ever been to has been located in a real hellhole...or in the middle of nowhere. Thoughts?? I agree with the BRAC list comments...I remember when the DoD closed Fort Dix in NJ. Wrightstown and surrounding areas practically shut down, the only reason they stayed in business was because of Mcguire AFB. Every few years Fort Drum was put on the list and all of upstate NY and Jefferson Co. were screaming to not close the base...err...Fort.

A. a military base brings LOADS of money into a community through civilian jobs, sales taxes through purchases the individuals stationed there make locally, home sales and rent, sales in general to units on the installation through local acquisitions. As for the midle of nowhere or arm pit locations, it most likely they kept them away from "prime locations" due to the noise factor coming from the installations. Also the older ones were built as frontier forts and just updated over teh decades. The newer ones were built where they were because that is where the most land could be easilly gotten with minimal problems like houses to condemn, higher prices near the "good cities & towns) etc.

How on earth did this guy shoot 43 people on a military base before somebody shot this guy?
Q. Maybe my friends in the military can answer this one. Is there a reason soldiers are not allowed to carry firearms on the military base? Is this just a Fort Hod rule, or does this apply to all military bases? It seems almost ironic that a military base would be attacked so badly because a "no gun" policy kept the soldiers from being armed, doesn't it?

What are regulations for restricting a soldier to the military base?
Q. Where can I find the rules for restricting a soldier to Ft. Hood military base? I just know that there has to be some sort of guidelines to base restriction.
Asked by riddla1984 - Wed Sep 23 18:48:12 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. The commander's discression under general military authority. This will be done with judgement, if a company commander just decides to tell the entire company they are restricted, they can do that. However they better have a reason or the battalion or brigade commanders will quickly stop it. Technically, you are on duty 24/7. On the weekend you are technically on pass even though unless you go outside a radius you don't fill out a DA31. So a commander can restrict that pass the same as how he approves or dissaproves your leave.

How would you react if a foreign nation had a military base in the US?

Q. I am NOT in the military but my brother is. And I want to get a job at his base. How can I go about it. I have gone onto that military base site and filled out my information and stuff. Will I get a job? How hard is it to get a civilian job on a base?

A. Depends on what you want to do? Flip burgers at burger king on post? You can get a job/ID card and be working in about 1 week. Want something that pays better and has more benefits? Then you have to have a degree or something. Check this website out.

What do I have to do to teach elementary school on a military base?
Q. My boyfriend is going to be stationed in El Paso, Texas. I currently live in Maryland and am planning to move there with him. I am interested in teaching on the military base where he's going to be stationed. How would I find information on that and what are the requirements? Also, what's it like teaching at a military base school? Is it different than teaching at a civilian, offbase school?

A. The exact same thing as a public school. The DODDS classes are among the best in the nation, and follow the national curriculum. From my experience, most of the kids on base are well behaved, and if not you will probably get a faster response from their parents before a Commander of First Sergeant get involved!!

What are good personal projects I can do on a military base?
Q. So, I've found myself with a lot of extra time for the next two months. I don't deal with inactivity for extended periods of time very well so I'd like some ideas for projects I can work on until my duty schedule changes. Since I'm going to be on a military base the project cannot involve flammable or hazardous materials and must be able to be stored fairly easily. Preferably, it will not be expensive and will involve active thinking or be educational. Thanks for the suggestions!

White elitists created israel as a military base in the middle east,, does this contribute to terrorism?
Q. The white elite supported the creation of israel with weapons. America now uses it as a military base. Do you think that putting a military base in the middle east was a good thing? It probably did prevent the strengthening of the muslim world thus preventing a future christian muslim war. Many terrorists are angry at our support of israel, do you think this contributed to terrorism today?

A. I'm sure it hasn't helped. A friend of mine asserts that one of the problems is the proliferation of militiary bases around the world. As much as we love our soldiers, we don't like their behavior around the world. It creates some resentment, unfortunately. Greed is the real evil. We are also losing our connection with each other. I detest what the Me Generation stands for. Overall, they are pretty evil.

What is it like living on a military base?
Q. My boyfriend and are thinking about getting married. What are the pro's and con's of living on a military base. We're both fairly young 23 and 24? Most likely in San Diego. Of course we don't have to live on base, that's why I'm asking about the pros and cons, In order to find out if it's something we'd like to do. Are their any lawns w/o grass? I'd rather not deal. ;)

A. San Diego! My hometown! Which base? I have been a Navy brat (20+ yrs.) and an Air Force wife (17yrs), and have lived on and off base. Personally, I liked living on base. It's nice living in very supportive community. Pros: It has everything like a small town would have without having to drive all over the big city-post office, hospital/clinic, library, church, schools, grocery (commissary), department store (BX,PX, MCX, NEX), gym, rec center, you name it! Housing/utilities are taken care of by military. If there is any problem with the house, military housing office will take care of the problem. Cons: You do not receive housing allowance. (In San Diego, you'd have to pay extra out of pocket for rent what allowance doesn't… [cont.]

Q. I wanted to send flowers to someone who is sick, but they are located on a military base. Can you send flowers to someone on a military base, or are there restrictions?

A. No, as long as the florist has proper documentation to get into the base such as valid insurance, registration and ID they can get in. You can also call the base operator alot of bases have flower shops located in there that can deliver and that will be a less hassle, but I work in a base and have seen flowers delivered.

What US Military over seas, including Hawaii and Alaska, base has the best Officers Club?
Q. What US Military base has the best Officers Club? I am a culinary student, and veteran, and I'm thinking about tapping an Officers Club to do my co-op at.
Asked by Culinary - Mon Sep 21 12:22:32 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Officers clubs have gone the way of Community clubs where all are invited to include officers, NCO's and lower enlisted soldiers. While the three are separated with different clubs that serve alcohol so no fraternization would be inferred if you are going to be a chef or a cook you will more than likely be employed by the community club as a whole. Which one is the best is a subjective matter of the patrons so take your pick. I suppose the best one is the one you are going to end up working at :)

A. Funny I started playing Fallout again, but it has been years since the last time I played, it. I don't remember that part.I am sure I will when I get to it again. I suggest looking for a walk through on line to help you out. I am sure there would be plenty. Found a link for you
