In geometry, a pentagon is any five-sided polygon. A pentagon may be simple or self-intersecting. The internal angles in a simple pentagon total 540°.

Regular pentagons

The term pentagon is commonly used to mean a regular convex pentagon, where all sides are equal and all interior angles are equal (to 108°). Its Schläfli symbol is {5}. The chords of this pentagon are in golden ratio to its sides.

The area of a regular convex pentagon with side length t is given by

A pentagram or pentangle is a regular star pentagon. Its Schläfli symbol is {5/2}. Its sides form the diagonals of a regular convex pentagon - in this arrangement the sides of the two pentagons are in the golden ratio.

When a regular pentagon is inscribed in a circle with radius R, its edge length t is given by the expression

Derivation of the Area formula

The area of any regular polygon is:

where P is the perimeter of the polygon, and a is the apothem. We can then substitute the respective values for P and a, which makes the formula:

with t as the given side length. Then we can then rearrange the formula as:

and then, we combine the two terms to get the final formula, which is:

Why did Rice send a meno to the Pentagon to keep Obama from visiting our troops in Germany?
Q. Pentagon Officials said the restirictions were to keeping with Defense Department aimed at avoiding the appearnce of military support for any particular candidate. The why did the Pentagon let McCain and his campagn go to the hospitals in Iraq? Do we Amercains smell a rat in what the White House is doing?

A. Rice is Cheney's guard dog, she does, what he tells her to do. Not like Bush, who is his puppet. Cheney is the brain behind the disastrous last 8 years and he learned his trade from Kissinger. (But Rice said, its just a '"coincidence", that she issued the executive order a day before Obama traveled)

How to say something is shaped like a pentagon?
Q. If somethins is shaped like a circle, it's circular. Same with rectangular, triangular, etc. But what about pentagon and octogon, hexagon, etc? At least with square, you can say "It's square." You can't say "It's pentagon." So what's the word I'm looking for? I'm prety sure it isn't pentagonular.

How do we know the pentagon has anti-air missiles?
Q. I am doing a research paper on the pentagon but I can't find an article where is says that the pentagon has anti-air missiles. Someone please help?
Asked by Onepiece671 - Wed Nov 12 06:31:32 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Actually I don't think it does have any permanent anti-air emplacements. I tried to find any information about such missiles a while ago but couldn't. The Pentagon is sited well away from any international borders or the coastline, so any air attack would be spotted in plenty of time for USAF interception. It would of course be possible to move mobile missile units on site if it was thought necessary. 9/11 was a sneak attack using a civilian airliner so doesn't count as an 'air attack' in this sense.
